The 8.5 Mile

This course is the same as years past, with the exception of the start and end being at the Brandy Creek “A” Parking lot and event area. After a nice wide road start, the course quickly turns to rugged and steep single track on the Brandy Creek Trail. After climbing what seems like forever, you will have a nice break as you traverse the mellower Rich Gulch Trail. The course ends the same way you came up, only this time what was a rough climb becomes a technical descent which requires your constant attention so you can avoid taking a soil sample!

The 21 Mile

Significant changes have been made to this year’s “medium” course. Instead of doing an out and back on Papoose and Boulder Creek, runners will run along south shore road (dirt except for the first mile) to the Carr Power House. This is where they will find their first Aid Station. After fueling up, you will tackle the Mill Creek road climb which leads you to the Boulder Creek Trail. After connecting with Papoose trail the course will resume the regularly scheduled pain train of year’s past which include an up and over on Papoose, up Brandy Creek, across Rich Gulch and back down the lower section of Brandy Creek trail to the finish line at the lake!

The 52k (32 miles)

The premier (only) ultra trail run in Redding! At just over 32 miles and an estimated 6,400’ of elevation, this course ain’t to be messed with. The first portion follows the 21 mile course until you get to the Brandy Creek campground. At this point, you will turn and head straight up and over Panther Gap on Peltier Valley road. After you have gone down a fairly equal distance to what you just climbed, you will turn and head straight up to the top of Kanka Peak! At the peak you will grab a token to prove you made it, then turn back around and return to the Brandy Creek trail the same way you came.
